This fountain by Pietro Tacca is in the Piazza della SS. Annunziata, not far from our hotel. Depicting grotesque mythical creatures, the fountain dates to the early 17th century and was originally intended for the port of Leghorn, which some say is why it seems out of place in the Piazza.
This is a side street not too far from the Uffizi – Florence is such a beautiful city that even a common street like this has a sense of beauty to it. Of course I may be over-romantizing everything as this was my first trip to Europe and I was really caught up in everything as we walked around the city.
